Cardano Founder Predicts Timeline for Bitcoin to Hit $1 Million
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, recently reiterated his prediction for Bitcoin price and provided a bold timeline for realization.
In an interview hosted by Bitcoin Magazine, Hoskinson highlighted key technological advancements and institutional involvement in driving Bitcoin’s growth. He particularly cited the recent focus on integrating Bitcoin within decentralized finance (DeFi).
His remarks come as other prominent figures, such as Cathie Wood of Ark Invest, have also expressed their optimistic outlook for Bitcoin’s future.
Bitcoin’s DeFi Future
Hoskinson emphasized Bitcoin’s growing significance in the DeFi space, largely due to its upgrade via Taproot, which enables greater programmability. He explained that Cardano’s close technological alignment with Bitcoin, particularly through its extended UTXO model, positions it as a key player in Bitcoin’s future DeFi ecosystem.
Hoskinson noted that Cardano’s proof-of-stake consensus is based on Bitcoin’s proof-of-work design, but it also offers unique advantages over Ethereum’s proof-of-stake. This alignment allows Bitcoin users to interact with the Cardano network while retaining their Bitcoin holdings for transaction fees and yield, setting it apart from other blockchain ecosystems.
Timeline for BTC to Hit $1M Amid Institutional Interest
Institutional involvement is another key factor driving Bitcoin’s growth. Hoskinson pointed out the increasing interest from major financial entities such as BlackRock and the U.S. government. Notably, BlackRock holds over 600,000 BTC tokens.
He noted that as Fortune 500 companies start to adopt Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency’s value could rise significantly. Hoskinson predicts that Bitcoin could see a price increase of between $250,000 and $500,000 within the next two years.
He also predicted that Bitcoin could surge to $1 million by the end of the decade. To rise from its current price of $105,605 to $1,000,000, Bitcoin would need to increase by approximately 846.5%.
Cathie Wood’s Long-Term Forecast for Bitcoin
Meanwhile, other industry leaders like Ark Invest founder Cathie Wood also agree with Cardano’s bold outlook. Wood projected that Bitcoin could see a 15-fold increase in value over the next five years to as high as $2.4 million.
Her perspective aligns with the notion that Bitcoin has emerged as a new asset class, providing diversification for institutional portfolios.
Wood believes that Bitcoin’s market potential is vast, as institutions continue to increase their exposure to the cryptocurrency, particularly following the approval of a Bitcoin spot ETF in 2024. This institutional surge could further bolster Bitcoin’s value, with Ark Invest predicting a price of $1.5 million by 2030 in a moderate case.
Bitcoin is currently $105,611, reflecting a 0.17% increase in the last 24 hours and a 30% rise over the past 90 days.
